A compassionate environment where you can openly share and explore your feelings

How I Work

Psychotherapy is a different process for everyone and I work with each client in a way that suits their individual experiences and needs. My approach encompasses an integration of various psychotherapeutic approaches. The relationship between client and therapist is important.

Initial Session

In your first therapy session, I will ask for some information to get an understanding of your current and past experiences and identify the areas that are negatively affecting you now.

We will also discuss what you would like to achieve from your counselling and psychotherapy experience. It is also an opportunity for you to ask questions to get a sense of me and how I work. Finding the right therapist for you is a personal and important choice and contributes to the outcome of your therapy.

Weekly Sessions

Each therapy session is 60 minutes. The number of sessions you might require depends on your needs, what is being addressed and what you would like to achieve from therapy.

Main Approaches of Counselling & Psychotherapy

Below are some of the examples of different forms of psychotherapy that can be used to understand and develop each client's life.

Person-Centered Psychotherapy

The person-centered approach to therapy or counselling includes a set of principles or conditions that person- centered therapists closely follow. These principles help therapists understand the client's life experiences from the client's point of view rather than interpreting unconscious motivations and behaviors. Person-centered therapists believe in the client's inherent potential ability for personal development and change. The therapist will offer support, guidance and structure to encourage and support the client in finding their own solutions to personal issues. To foster a better understanding of any obstacles that may be preventing their development and change and to develop their own resources to better manage future challenges.

Psychodynamic

The goal of psychodynamic Psychotherapy is to develop a client's understanding of the influence that past experiences may be having on their present behaviors and emotions. Our life experiences impact our emotional lives and our behaviors and also shape our understanding of what reality is. This means that our early childhood experiences and relationships create our understanding of how the world works and how we expect people to respond to us. This has to do with how we learn as humans. By exploring unresolved conflicts that may have arisen in previous experiences and relationships, this therapy seeks to provide insight into how these conflicts may be affecting a client's current emotional wellbeing.

Integrative Bodywork

Integrative Bodywork

Integrative bodywork is an approach that recognises the body, like the mind, is a fundamental part of human being. The body can offer useful information in the same way as our cognitive and emotional aspects are informative, making it an essential part of the therapy process. The body can be an important source when working with issues such as anxiety, panic attacks, trauma, post- traumatic stress disorder, depression and intimacy.
